  1. I'm a member of an internet community of collectors of Pokemon merchandise (pkmncollectors.livejournal.com), and I've been on the fence about whether or not to get a 3DS and whether or not to rejoin the Pokemon craze with the release of X and Y on October 12th. On September 27th, these limited edition 3DS XLs were released, and some of our comm members posted a myriad of pictures of the ones they had bought. Needless to say, I was immediately enamored with their design and set off to acquire one for myself. I was not disappointed.

Though the system is, as others have said, simply a 3DS XL with a design on it, there are a couple of notable differences. Firstly, the design is absolutely gorgeous, with a metallic silver glimmer on Xerneas and Yvetal in blackest black, with all lines smooth and just masterfully done. In the background of the design are two lightly silhouetted letters 'XY' for the upcoming games that these two legendary pokemon come from. The back/bottom of the...

  2. It's just another 3DS XL with special artwork that you'll either love or hate. Personally, I'm content with my New Leaf XL and feel no other design looks better, especially with it being white, which is apparently a no-no in North America.

Anyway, the gloss finish, though not very ideal design wise, brings out the luster and appeal of these 3DS XLs. The reds and blues on these particular models are actually darker and glossy compared to their launch model brethren. On that note, it would have been nice if they chose some unique colors instead of just making the launch colors darker and glossy in my opinion.

They still look nice and are equipped with the exact same features you would find on an average 3DS XL model; nothing else stands out but the paint jobs, which are rather nice.

As a final note, could you people learn to REVIEW AND RATE ITEMS PROPERLY, instead of poorly carving out a review whining about your experiences with a seller, the pricing of...

  3. I'll be reviewing my brother's XL since I see some people giving it a 1 star because of the price.

These look much better in person. The pictures online do not do it justice. The finish on these are a glossy finish and not the normal matte finish like previous XL models. This might be bad for those who hate fingerprints, as it is a fingerprint magnet on the outside, but it brings out the colors making them pop. They're a deeper, richer color compared to the regular blue and red XL's.

Xerneas has a nice metallic silver finish on the front and on the back you have silhouettes of the 3 starter Pokemon of gen 6 also in silver. The inside has the same matte black interior like the regular blue and red XL's.

These do not come with the games pre-installed or bundled which might be an issue for some people but its fine since it keeps the cost down. I highly would recommend picking one of these up if you're looking to buy a 3ds XL or thinking about upgrading to...
